Green Initiatives Advisory Committee

WHEREAS Bradford GO Station is the primary transit hub for our municipality and encouraging sustainable transit is a priority of Council and the Green Initiatives Advisory Committee (GIAC) to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and improve traffic congestion; WHEREAS residents continue to face unresolved challenges related to train frequency, speed, reliability and station safety; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Green Initiatives Advisory Committee recommend that Council: 1. Request Metrolinx publish a clear timeline for Regional Express Rail service improvements on the Barrie Line to Bradford to achieve all-day, two-way, 15-minute service, including interim steps to improve frequency; 2. Advocate for safe pedestrian access to eliminate the current at-grade crossing to the platform; 3. Request confirmation of plans for the station building’s reopening and amenities/staffing, and reshingling of the roof; and 4. Encourage continued investment in first/last-mile connections including pedestrian and cycling access and more parking.

The Committee requests Council refer consideration of a trail from Jonkman Blvd to Danube Lane along the hydro cut to the 2026 capital budget deliberations, subject to a developer funding arrangement.
